Of all the festivals Diwali is certainly one of the most significant Hindu festivals celebrated across India. The name of the festival Diwali or Deepawali translates literally as “row of lamps”. The essence of the festival lies in how it inspires people to believe in the power of good and signifies that no matter how dark it gets, that a single diya, the light of consciousness can enlighten one’s path; it epitomizes triumph of good over evil.
During Diwali festivities for a day time look I prefer lightly embroidered outfits. When it comes to anarkalis, today many variations in terms of ghera, cuts, length, layers are available. Anarkali dresses are no longer limited to one style. This dress has so many different elements, the beautiful neck line, combination of different fabrics and a layered ghera which gives a lehenga effect to the dress.
For the makeup to match the opulence of the outfit and also the festivities I went for an equally dramatic look. A beautiful subtle gold smokey eye since I was aiming for a day time look. A dramatic wing which I feel looks lovely with Indian looks. Contouring for the cheekbones, highlighting for the high points of the face and a neutral blush to add definition to the face. A beautiful matte pink to finish off the look.
To all my beautiful readers add lots of sparkle to your life through the festivities. Wish you a Happy Diwali and a prosperous New Year. Have a safe festive season.
